Social Security Number Confidentiality
It is the policy of Selman & Company to protect the confidential nature of social security numbers of our insured members. Therefore, Selman & Company assigns a unique identifier (Certificate Number) to each employee enrolled in the TRICARE Supplement Plan. This Certificate Number can be found on the ID cards.
The collection and use of insured's social security numbers are limited to only what is reasonably necessary for proper administration of Selman & Company's business, including the following:
- As a means of identifying an individual for whom a unique identification number is not yet assigned
- For internal verification or administrative purpose
- As alternate means to a database, not primary means
